The Voir Dire Exercise includes a live mock voir dire proceeding, "evidentiary" opening statements, case presentations, mock deliberations, and focus group discussions. In advance of the study, participants meet briefly with Starr staff to complete a Supplemental Juror Questionnaire (SJQ) and to complete preliminary baseline questionnaires. Starr assigns two analysts to the trial team? one to work as the plaintiff consultant and one to work as the defense consultant. Both sides use the preliminary SJQ data to rate and strike jurors before conducting the voir dire proceedings, case presentations, and mock deliberations.
